Bio

Experience: Prior to teaching Melissa served as a communications officer where she was able to see the importance of teaching children when they are young. Melissa worked as a communications officer for approximately one year when she decided to make a change that could make an impact on a child’s successful entry into the community. She earned her B.S. in Social Science with concentrations in the areas of Exceptionalities, Brain Development, Infant and Toddler Development and Family Involvement. Melissa began her teaching career as a volunteer for Head Start working her way up to a Lead Teacher position. Melissa held her position with Head Start serving the organization in three of the organization’s locations. Melissa has had the privilege to work with children ranging in age from three to five. Education: Melissa completed her B.S. in Social Science earning Specializations in Exceptionalities, Brain Development, Infant and Toddler Development and Family Involvement through Coosa Valley Tech. She immediately enrolled for her Master’s in Education with a specialization in Culturally Responsive Education through Ashford University. Melissa continues to stay current on the latest research and best practice through ongoing training, workshops and conferences. About Melissa: Melissa is originally from Miami, Florida. Her family transferred to Georgia when she was three. She has lived in the Bartow county area for the majority of her life and loves calling it her home. She is raising her three children and her nephew there with the hopes that they will love their community as much as she does. Melissa is committed to serving the children and families at Rollins Child Development Center in the hopes that these children and families will gain the experiences that will allow them to grow and give back to their community in a way that can be received by others as a blessing.
